35mm film double exposures captured
entirely in camera.
Alexandra Jansen is a self taught film photographer who pushes the boundaries of analogue through her surreal double exposure works. Using only her vintage 35mm camera from the 1980s and natural light, she creates compositions that blur the line between dream and reality.
Her practice is deeply shaped by a sense of nostalgic escapism, born during her experience of enduring extreme isolation through ovarian cancer treatment twice amidst the pandemic. inspired by her love of big city nights, sun-drenched beach days, and the retro nostalgia of her sleepy australian surf town, alexandra’s analogue mixtapes collection feels like living between a studio 54 new york night and a 70s california dream.
collected by art enthusiasts around the world, her work is crafted in collaboration with fine art studios in new york city, london, paris, and sydney. each piece celebrates freedom, self expression, the enduring beauty of imperfection, an escape into a world of carefree joy, and endless creative possibility.
A portion of every artwork sold supports ovarian cancer research, continuing a deeply personal mission woven through her creative journey.
