Alexandra jansen
Alexandra Jansen is a film photographer working with in-camera double exposures which began during a prolonged period of illness and isolation.
Confronted by circumstances beyond her control, she drifted into daydreams of simple pleasures and imagined freedoms. Created using only natural light, the images embrace chance and imperfection. Sunlight interacts with the film, revealing a mirage of nostalgic leisure through surrealist imagery. The double exposure technique is integral to the concept. As double exposures cannot be exactly replicated, each image reflects the fleeting nature of life and the impermanence of the refuges we create within it. Through this process, the series explores memory, longing, and brief moments of beauty that offer solace during times of uncertainty.
Alexandra is partnered with fine art studios in Paris, London, New York, and Sydney, with works held in private collections worldwide.
