Alexandra Jansen is a self-taught film photographer working with surreal in-camera double exposures, created using natural light.
Her work explores introspective escapism, drawing on imagined previous eras shaped by nostalgia, optimism, and a sense of comfort within the idea of the simplicity of the past. Through layered compositions, she captures moments that feel dreamlike and familiar, reflecting the tendency to romanticise time through a softened, rose-coloured lens.
The analogue process remains central to her practice, embedding time, imperfection, and intention into each piece.
Alexandra is partnered with fine art studios in Paris, London, New York, and Sydney, with works held in private collections worldwide.
A portion of each piece is donated to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.
